Fertility preservation with the FRIENDLY FERTILITY PRESERVATION PLAN
The Spanish Fertility Society defines fertility preservation treatments as:
Those in which the aim, as in other reproductive therapies, is to achieve a pregnancy, but not immediately, but postponed in time.
This option is used by women and couples who want to postpone their maternity and/or parenthood for personal or medical reasons, deciding when to have a baby.
There are several possibilities:
- Cryopreservation of oocytes: this consists of performing an ovarian stimulation on the woman that allows several oocytes to be recovered and cryopreserved, which can be used in the future to be fertilised with the partner’s sperm or a donor’s sperm to achieve pregnancy. Cryopreservation is possible thanks to “vitrification”, a laboratory technique that allows them to be frozen and kept at a temperature of -196ºC so that, once they are needed, they can be returned to their original state.
- Sperm cryopreservation: performed for men who are undergoing cancer treatment or who need to postpone fatherhood for medical reasons.
Our FRIENDLY FERTILITY PRESERVATION PLAN
At IMER we carry out a special fertility preservation plan, Friendly Fertility Preservation, which offers many advantages over traditional treatments of this type:
More efficient: better results have been demonstrated in relation to the number of oocytes cryopreserved;
More convenient: the number of control visits and the amount of medication required is reduced. Less invasive type of medication administration.
Safer: the risk of ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome disappears;
More economical: medication costs are significantly reduced.
